I've recently read the story about Cynteria Phillips,
a 13-year-old African-American girl who was killed in August of 2000. She was raped and beaten to death.
I heard about Cynteria after seeing Sweety Keke's page. It was horrible about what that poor girl has gone through: physically and sexually abused as a child and by the time she was a teenager, she was living on the streets. Cynteria was a lovely young girl whose life ended so sadly.
It will be 7 years this year since Cynteria's death, but so far, her killer has never come forward. It's terrible about what Cynteria has gone through and if she'd received some help, she could still be alive. I wouldn't say that if she got help, she'd be alive. We don't know what would've happened had she gotten help.
On the day of her death, Cynteria was with her friend, Jacinda Tyler. She heard about a party that she wanted to go to, but she wasn't allowed to go. Around 7:00pm, Cynteria left. Cynteria was last seen alive at 10:15pm. She went over to the shelter she was staying at to get her clothes, but she couldn't. Cynteria left and the next day, her body is found behind Edison High School.
It's almost going to be seven years and Cynteria will never receive justice. After hearing how the foster care system failed Cynteria, you want to blame them, you want to blame her parents for bringing her up in this horrific lifestyle, but it's kind of hard who to blame.
Cynteria has lived an abusive life from the time she was born. This girl had her whole life ahead of her and then her life was cut short. It's really terrible and unfair that Cynteria died.
My dream for Cynteria is that she will receive justice and her killer will be found. We'll never know when the killer of Cynteria Phillips will come forward or be found. To some people, Cynteria was just another casuality in the foster care system of Florida.
God Bless Cynteria Phillips.
May you rest in peace and the Lord will protect you forevermore.
