Joshua Ray Minton, was a 2-year-old toddler, when his hands were bound and his mouth taped shut at his Tulsa daycare, died of suffocation and excess fluid in the brain and lungs, an autopsy revealed. Vicki Leigh Chiles, 42, is facing a first-degree murder charge in the May 17 death of 2-year-old Joshua Ray Minton. In a separate case, Chiles is charged with abusing an 8-year-old boy in her care. Dr. Andrew Sibley, the medical examiner, said EMSA paramedics reported the boy had no pulse when they arrived at Chiles' daycare center in east Tulsa. Joshua Ray Minton was taken to St. John Medical Center, where he was resuscitated. He later was transferred to St. Francis Hospital, where he died. The paramedics arrived about the same time as officials from the Department of Human Services who came to deliver an emergency order closing the facility as a result of the abuse to the 8-year-old boy more than a month earlier on April 10. Chiles admitted placing tape over Joshua's mouth and binding his hands because he would not remain quiet duing nap time! Sibley said in the autopsy report released Monday that there were marks on Joshua's face and right arm that were consistent with masking tape. The tape caused Joshua's airway to be obstructed and the "reported presence of vomitus in the airway"
